Make Your Mark in Fashion is setting young people the challenge of creating a new range for an established, sustainable fashion label.
Make Your Mark in Fashion is a national, high-profile competition open to anyone aged between 14 and 30. Teams of 3-6 people are asked to create a proposal for a new fashion range for an existing, sustainable fashion business. Nine of the UK’s top sustainable fashion businesses are acting as judges and mentors for this competition. These are: Ciel, Junky Styling, Terra Plana, Makepiece, Juste, Enamore, THTC, From Somewhere and LIV. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2008 with a semi-final event in April 2008. The three winning teams will work with their mentor fashion businesses to make their ranges, which will be showcased at OnIOff during London Fashion week, in September 2008. Royal College of Art Graduate Fashion Show
The Royal College of Art (RCA) Fashion course plans to commemorate its 60th anniversary in style at its annual graduate fashion shows on the 11
and 12 June.
Founded by former Vogue editor Madge Garland in 1948, the highly acclaimed postgraduate fashion course has helped launch many of fashion’s leading figures over the years including Ossie Clark, Philip Treacy, Julien Macdonald and Christopher Bailey.
The class of 2008 will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors when they present their final collections. Thirty-two postgraduate students in menswear, womenswear, knitwear, accessories, footwear and millinery will showcase garments both on the catwalk and in a static exhibition.
All shows take place at the Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, London SW7 2EU
