education day
Left: Siobhan Ramswell, University of Northampton
Right: Jessica Au, Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication
Aimed at 14-18 year old students at Schools and Further Education Colleges, the day will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see the types of courses available from the exhibiting universities.
The very first education day attracted over 120 schools from all over the country and 3000 school students.
Visitors will also be able to see the work on show from the graduating students and to talk to both Course Leaders and the graduates themselves.
In addition there will be an opportunity to see the GFW Gala Show which will be staged four times throughout the day, and to attend one of the two Careers Clinics!

Careers Clinic

Some of the school teachers who attended said…

"A hugely valuable firsthand experience for our fashion textile students' futures, with regard to progression into further education and the industry. The students thoroughly enjoyed the Gala Show, injecting energy into their own work. They left today's event with more drive and direction. A very well supported event."
Hermione MacDonald-Thomson, Head of Textiles, George Abbot School
"The show was fabulous, inspiring for all our students. We have enjoyed meeting the designers and Elle magazine at the Careers Clinic. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and always willing to talk to us. Thank you!"
Denise Innes - Head Of Textiles, Cheltenham College

Some of the students who attended said…

"Revealed depths of where fashion can go to."
“Un-conventional adventurous fashion."
"Inspirational.”
"You wouldn't see this everyday...it's unique fashion."
"Opens more doors."
"Glimpse into our future."
"Good universities to look for are shown here”

And our Host said...

"The GFW Education Day was about preparing students with the facts and the knowledge they will need to make informed choices about their careers. As Chair of the 'Careers Clinic,' panel, I believe it delivered a quality experience with a personal touch. This is an event that managed everything - with spectacle and excitement underpinned by integrity and authenticity."
